Karma

Karma is one of those words that have come to mean slightly different things to everyone. To me it means balance. It means to see the good things along with the bad things. I could focus on the fact that I have a low-paid job with too early a start in the morning, or I could focus on the fact that I like my job, I love the people I work with, and however low-paid it is the bills are always covered. I can’t buy expensive things but I don’t go without.
It means balance throughout your entire life too. Most people realise that it would be a mistake to think that just because someone’s happy now, they can’t have had anything bad happen in their lives. I know people who have lived through the worst of situations and can smile today, ’cause they, like me, noticed that good things happened too.
It’s knowing that good things and bad things happen to everyone. Focus entirely on the bad, you are going to be miserable. Obviously. You have bad karma when that is all you can see.

I’m quite happy in my life right now. I mean, it could be better. I could win the lottery or become a best-seller with little to no effort. There’s an imaginary film offer that could improve things. But, you know, things are good. An alright job, nice home, fun friends but most of all I have a beautiful boy and an amazing fiancé. There are no better people I could have in my life than those two. No matter how bad things have been in the past they are worth it all a hundred fold.

And rainbows make everything better.

  1. I love this outlook. As long as you can be aware that things could be worse, it tends to be a lot easier to see how good things really are. Something I remind myself of on a daily basis.
